Going green at the movies, retro style

Sunday 20th July 2008 - 6:21:24 PM

A horde of crawl-and-crush giants clawing out of the earth from mile-deep catacombs!

I’ve already expressed my strong admiration for Wall E, but it seems that a large number of conservative parents aren’t to pleased with the cute little ‘bot. Seems they don’t want their kids to get any crazy ideas in their heads that maybe producing copious amounts of waste and consuming with no thoughts toward the future aren’t such good things. But Wall E certainly isn’t the first movie that appears like mindless entertainment on the surface but actually has a scary pro-environment message underneath. The blog at Green Daily has posted an article about the great atomic age horror movies, the scary films about giant killer radioactive ants that made postwar movie-goers all the more afraid of The Bomb.
